Get me to the church on time…if I can navigate the ridiculous traffic cones.

Today, my Lovie and I are recovering from our recent trip to Wisconsin. We had the pleasure of attending my sister-in-law’s wedding, which proved to be a beautiful and worthwhile experience.

Despite her life-threatening illness, witnessing her union with her new husband warmed our hearts. They have faced life-altering challenges this past year. It was humbling to see them celebrate their love and take a break from the chaos. They are a loving couple who deserve all the happiness in the world.

The groom is from a large family of seven siblings and has parents who have been married for nearly 66 years. It was heartwarming to watch them on the dance floor and to see their middle-aged children doting on them. Our nephew from my sister-in-law’s previous marriage provided the musical entertainment and did a fantastic job. He has grown into a personable young man, and it was a delight to reconnect with him.

The wedding ceremony was in an Episcopal church, although the groom was raised as a Catholic. The service was deeply moving. It even prompted me to partake in communion for the first time in years. Before the wedding festivities, we helped set up a surprise garage sign for my brother-in-law and discreetly presented our gift. The reception was an absolute joy, with Grandma joining in on the dancing with the little ones. Although the crowd skewed slightly older, witnessing the third generation revel in the celebrations brought immeasurable happiness.

We also enjoyed quality time with Lovie’s mom. We enjoyed a lovely evening at a local pizza restaurant on the river in Milwaukee with Lovie’s mother and brother. Our journey to Wisconsin was not without its frustrations. The seemingly never-ending roadwork, with its pointless cones and detours, proved to be a drain on our patience and taxpayers’ money. It needlessly added to the difficulty of our travels.

Now that we are back home, we are eagerly preparing for our upcoming trip to Iceland in just 7 days. We cannot contain our excitement, but we also recognize the need to rest up and recharge our batteries. Lastly, I want to send my heartfelt love and blessings to S and J. My sister-in-law’s fight with the formidable C monster speaks volumes about her bravery and strength. They deserve nothing less than an abundance of love and happiness.
